XDefiant fans will need to hang on a bit longer, as Ubisoft’s upcoming shooter has been hit with another delay. Previously aimed for release before the end of March 2024, Ubisoft targets a firm release date after a brief testing phase.
In a recent update, Ubisoft San Francisco explained that they have more polishing before XDefiant is ready for launch. The team’s also prepping for a 12-hour server stress test across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S to check how much the servers can handle. Ubisoft hopes to pin down a release date soon after the test wraps up.
According to Ubisoft’s latest financial report, XDefiant joins the ranks of its other free-to-play titles. This move is part of its push to strengthen its live service game market presence. Initially, the game was meant to drop in October 2023, but it was indefinitely delayed. The financial report had hinted at a March 2024 release window, though.
XDefiant: Ubisoft’s Spin on Call of Duty?
XDefiant is Ubisoft’s answer to Activision’s Call of Duty, and the game’s executive producer, Mark Rubin, even has a history with Call of Duty as a former executive producer.
Like those in IGN’s coverage, early beta impressions reckon that XDefiant has a solid core but needs a bit more fine-tuning to shine.
