About Us

A Foreword

Gaming has the power to shape our lives – it’s where we find rivals, teammates, and sometimes, those rare few who become lifelong friends.

Skyhawks Australia has been more than just a website, community or clan tag to me. In 2007, when I was just a teenager, just a little obsessed with Halo 3, I became a part of something special. From those first days building something with fellow gamers to now, Skyhawks has evolved alongside my life.

We’ve seen games come and go, battled through glitchy launches, and celebrated those epic in-game moments that only true gamers understand.

This history isn’t just about me; it’s about the generations of Aussie gamers who’ve called Skyhawks their online home, be they past or present members of our little corner of the internet. It’s about the late-night strategising raids, the inside jokes formed over countless matches, and the unwavering support we give each other both in-game and out.

The story of Skyhawks Australia is a testament to the camaraderie and enduring joy that gaming brings, and I’m honoured to share that story with you.

Cheers,
Jenko

2007 – Our Foundations On Halo 3

In truth, a few of us were gaming together before Halo 3 launched. But it was Halo 3 that marked the formation of Skyhawks as we know it today. A lot of us were teenagers either in or just starting high school, and every day, without fail, we would party up on our Xbox 360s and set out to make a name for ourselves in Halo 3. This game did stand the test of time, with many of our players continuing to play right through 2009 until the release of Halo Reach.

I still had some in-game screenshots from when we played.

2008 – Crossing Platforms For Crysis

After Crysis launched in late 2008, some of our members began crossing platforms from Xbox to PC to play the new title. “But can it play Crysis?” was the saying. Despite this crossing, we maintained a very healthy membership of regular players on Halo 3 and other Xbox 360 titles.

2010 – Remembering Reach

It should come as no surprise that we were there for it when Halo Reach launched. We were still diligently playing Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST right up to the launch of Halo Reach.

2012 – Meeting You On The Battlefield

Battlefield 3, despite its rough launch, also earns a place in our History.

2014 – Our Destiny Awaited

Skyhawks members dive headfirst into the world of Destiny 1. Raids, strikes, and the hunt for loot dominate the community, forging bonds of teamwork and shared adventure. I even did a video from our time in the Destiny Beta.

  • Bekkar Aman
  • Hawkwaard
  • Zorbo95

Our hopes were high following the beta, and we went on to play Destiny quite consistently.
